10/7/2007 Seekers’ Haven Third Query

Our home is sometimes a place of peace, joy, and contentment.  Sometimes there is resentment when parents set limits for , or require service from, the children.   We parents strive to be an influence for good with our children first, which is tiring work. We set a Christian example for our children by our words, the way we lead our own lives, and by turning to Christ for guidance in all things; but they have many other examples which influence their behavior.   It is sad that they do not seem to feel the need for Christ’s guidance.  We have not been consistent in reading the Bible with our children.  They often rebel and ‘shut down’ when religious topics are discussed.  They do not appreciate what wisdom is contained in the Bible and we can only hope that someday they will turn to it as they see us utilize and study it.

We try to demonstrate good stewardship in the community/neighborhood by maintaining a well-kept home in terms of landscaping and lawn care, and outdoor solar lighting.  We show friendliness in greeting and waiving to our neighbors, and offering our driveway for their special event parking.

We try to influence the larger world for good by volunteer work, writing letters to elected servants, and by prayer.
